GZV #32: Wellness for Gen Z, and How We Like Clubhouse
Startups. Trends. Markets. All from a Gen Z view.
Welcome to all of our new subscribers! If you ever want my opinion or thoughts on something associated with Gen Z, just shot me an email.
Let me introduce you to… GOLDE
Problem:
Gen Z has a hard time being 100% healthy. Most of us do a pretty good job, working out, eating healthy, but most of us definitely don’t meet the daily requirements for stuff like our vegetable intake.
Product:
“A D2C wellness brand that produces superfood blends and natural skincare products, with a mission to promote health and inclusion.”
Gen Z View
Products in the health and wellness space are hard to market, most of the time it comes through word of mouth. Product is key here and by looking at sales and reviews it looks like they are doing very well.
Gen Z wants to be healthy, but tastes, texture and access limits us. For example, I would eat a salad every few nights, but I can’t store a container of salad for three weeks and I don’t want to spend money buying it at a restaurant.
The key here is a easily accessible (D2C), great tasting, cheap products that make Gen Z feel good when they are using them. Golde fulfills this.

Clubhouse and Gen Z
You’re probably sick of hearing about Clubhouse, but I believe this is just the start of the platform. It is growing at a rapid rate and I am finally starting to hear whispers of it throughout my college. I have been on Clubhouse since November and the platform has improved a lot, but I still think there is a lot of room for improvement.
First, the Onboarding.
It took me a day or two to get accustom with clubhouse and my friends who I’ve been inviting are the same. On first glance, it’s a confusing platform and it kind of just throws you to the wolves to figure out for yourself. A simple story-like walkthrough of how it works would be really very helpful for Gen Z.
Second, Discovering Sucks.
When my friends first go onto the app, the first question they ask is, “what rooms should I go into?”, and almost all the time I say, “just follow who I follow”, because that is how my rooms show up. I see they recently added an interest section, although it has some good features like people to follow and clubs, it needs a more algorithmic approach. Whenever a bunch of people with a “Sports” interest enters a room, it should alert you about that room. Now talking about Alerts…
Finally, Better notifications…
Right now Clubhouse notifications look like this… “John Smith, Micheal Scott, John Doe, Jimmy Fallon, and XYZ, are talking about “Rock for President", Tap to join!”.
Now wouldn’t something like this be better? “158 people are talking about “Bitcoin Hits $50K", Tap to Join!”. This notification is a lot clearer and really lets me know what the room is about, which is one of the main purposes of Clubhouse. If you know Clubhouse, you know the notifications aren’t the best and I believe they would get a lot better click rate if they changed it around.
For now, that is the main feedback I have seen that can create a better user experience. Obviously Clubhouse is still very early and I believe they will make these improvements and more in the near future.
Cheers. And see you on Clubhouse!
